01.23.11 (Monday) - F had the day off school, so we decided to spend the day (sans T) at the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum. Unfortunately, the museum opened an hour late (due to "icy roads"? seriously?) and a huge rally brought crowds. But we still had a good day. Especially learning about evolution.
01.22.12 (Sunday afternoon) - Stories in Art at the National Gallery. The girls learned about Matisse and paper-cutting. And I finally downloaded instagram.
01.22.12 (Sunday) - P rocks a hat.
01.21.12 (Saturday am) - We woke up to snow. Sort of a hard, crusty snow. But still "snow!!!" The girls immediately ran outside, whereas T chilled by the window, not quite as impressed by it all.

01.20.12 (Friday am) - The neighbors just adopted a new dog, a one year old hound. She's awesome.
01.19.12 (Thursday pm) - I always go back and forth on how much to let the kids play on my iphone. Some days it seems so mindless and some days it seems like such a lifesaver. On Thursday I downloaded a bunch of new apps for kids, so I must be leaning towards "lifesaver."
01.19.12 (Thursday am) - Cold day. The kids love breaking up the ice in front of our house.
01.18.12 (Wednesday am) - We always discover interesting things around the neighborhood after we drop F off at school. Well, maybe always is a bit of an overstatement.

01.17.11 (Tuesday am) - Another rainy, freakishly warm day (low 60s) in January. We need to buy some window coverings. Decisions, decisions. Luckily the neighbors have their own, so they can block us out.
01.16.11 (Monday evening) - F learned about MLK in school, so after dinner Dan told her we could all watch the "I Have A Dream" speech together. It's pretty amazing, especially realizing how large of a crowd attended The March on Washington.
01.16.11 (Monday) - Cold day. But F and P insisted on spending most of the afternoon outside.
01.15.11 (Sunday) - We had the new neighbors over for dinner, lots of vegetarian dishes (swiss chard and spaghetti squash). F helped cook everything and even "tried" to eat it. Tried being the key word in that sentence.
01.14.11 (Saturday) - I didn't realize until Sunday that I forgot to take a picture on my birthday. It was a good day, full of friends and cupcakes. Three dozen. Wow.

01.11.12 (Wednesday pm) - Dan's mom and great aunt came to visit in the afternoon. Several dance parties followed.
01.11.12 (Wednesday afternoon) - F's poem (translation) - My Poem: Home, Om/ Om Home/ Whatever It Is It's Something People Live in/ Home, Om."
01.11.12 (Wednesday am) - F woke up saying she felt "too sick to go to school." She didn't seem sick, but I let her stay home. We spent the morning working on art projects. Sometimes everyone needs a day off.
01.10.12 (Tuesday) - After we dropped F off at school, we realized I locked us out of the house. We had to call a locksmith (Mr. Supershady) who arrived one hour late and explained that all of our locks were "unpickable". So he had to replace one. A couple hundred dollars later, he got us back inside. I think the whole thing was a total scam, but I was too cold to fight.
